Clark State
and OhioLINK provide you with full text articles in several databases:
- Academic
Search Premier: indexes general and some scholarly publications;
not all, but many articles are full text.
- Business
Source Premier: indexes business publications; not all, but many
articles are full text.
- EBSCOhost
databases: Academic Search Premier and Business Source Premier
are among the EBSCOhost databases; there are a dozen or so more. Most
have full text.
- Health
and wellness Resource Center: citation and full text in many cases,
not all.
- SIRS:
good magazine articles, primarily on social issues; all full text.
- Lexis-Nexis
Academic Universe: many databases, all full text except for the
Medical Abstracts database. This is an excellent source for newspaper
articles and is very current--it even includes today's newspapers!
- OhioLINK
Electronic Journals Center--hundreds of scholarly journals, mostly
scientific publications,
international in scope.
ACCESS
The first four of the above are available on any college computer. You
need the free Adobe
Acrobat Reader to view some of the articles. Click the "Articles"
button on the Library home page.
Academic Search Premier and Business Source Premier--access is
from the OhioLINK home page My Express Links button. Or click on one of
the links below Explore OhioLINK databases and search by name or subject.
Many of the articles in these databases contain full text.
Health and
Wellness Resource Center--access is from the links below Express Links
on the OhioLINK home page, from the links under Explore OhioLINK Databases,
or from the CSCC Reference page.
SIRS: click on the "SIRS" button on the My Express Links
page. Or use the Explore OhioLINK Databases by Name feature. You will
then have a choice between subject and keyword searching, or you can browse
topics.
Lexis Nexis Academic Universe: Access from My Express Links on the
OhioLINK home page, from the links under Explore OhioLINK Databases, or
from the CSCC Reference page. General News Topics and General Medical
and Health Topics are the ones most frequently used by Clark State students.
Don't forget to change your parameters for the source and date.
For
example, in General News Topics, by clicking and holding on the little
down arrow or triangle, you can choose between newspapers and magazines.
Choose your time period in the same manner.
OhioLINK
Electronic Journals Center: click on the OhioLINK button, then arrow
down to the Electronic
Journals Center. Clicking anywhere on the banner will take you into the
EJournal's.
FORMAT
Some Academic Search Premier and Business Source Premier
articles and all of the OhioLINK Electronic Journals are all in
PD. format; you'll need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader in order to read
them. It looks and prints the image of the article just as it appeared
in the magazine. The articles will look best if you can print to a laser
printer (most of the computers on campus are attached to laser printers).
SIRS and Lexis look like typing; they are ASCII
databases. You can print on a dot matrix printer if necessary.
PRINTING
Use the print command on your computer or browser. Some databases will
also let you e-mail the full
text or the citations to your e-mail account.
