Some things
you should know about the Alphabetical
List of Electronic Journal Titles from Cleveland State University...
This site gives database or URL locations of full-text electronic journals,
but these journals are only available if they are accessible through OhioLINK
OR if they are free of charge. A small percentage of the titles listed
here are available only at Cleveland State University. The available databases
are located in the OhioLINK Research
Databases or in the OhioLINK Electronic
Journals Center.
Here an
example of what you can do with the Cleveland State University list:
You are searching in CINAHL and have found an article entitled "The
Last Resource--the Use of Physical Restraints in Medical Emergencies."
The full text of the article is not available in CINAHL, but you need
the entire article for class. Here's what you can do:
-
Remember
the journal title.
-
Click
the link at the top of the page.
-
Search
for the journal by title. You will see that it is available in Lexis-Nexis.
-
Go back
to the CSCC Library home page.
-
Choose
the Lexis-Nexis link.
-
Click
"Medical."
-
Click
"News."
-
Enter
"physical restraints" under "keyword"
-
Change
the source to New England Journal of Medicine.
The article
will appear; after clicking on its title, you will have the full text.
Here's
another example...
You need to read the article "Beyond World Class" by David Buchanan
in the periodical "Human Resources Management Journal."
-
Go the
the Cleveland State University Alphabetical List of Electronic Jouurnal
Titles.
-
Enter
the journal title and click "Find." This will tell you that
this journal appears in the ABI Inform database. It also tells you
that its electronic coverage began in June 1995, and continues to
the present.
-
Go to
OhioLINK Research Databases on the library home page.
-
Choose
ABI Inform.
-
On the
ABI search screen, change the "subject" box to "article
title."
-
Enter
the words "beyond world class." This takes you to a screen
of four titles, all of which contain the words you typed in. A quick
look at the authors tells you that the first one is the one you want.
-
Click
on the title to get the full record.
-
Choose
"Retrieve Full Text" to pick the type of full text you want--words
or image.
If you need
help, just ask a librarian!
