Finding Books:
The Clark State Library has a fairly large collection of books which cover many topics in the very broad field of ‘business.’ LOIS (our online catalog) will lead you to them.

For topics, you can search by keyword or subject. For broad topics, you can search using LOIS by subject. If you start by typing in the subjects Business, Management, or Marketing, you will find lists of subjects specifically related to business. Some of these subjects are:

Accounting
Advertising
Big Business
Business Planning
Commerce
Customer Service
Executives
Franchises
Inventories
Minority Business Enterprises
New Business Enterprises
Packaging
Proposal Writing in Business
Selling
Small Business Enterprises
Success in Business
Women in Business

...and many more! Don't be afraid to explore.

If you don’t find what you’re looking for, or the book you want has been checked out, look in the OhioLINK Library Catalog You may be able to borrow just what you need. You’ll need to be registered in the Library and have a barcode on the back of your ID to do this. The great thing is that the books are delivered in 2-3 days. We'll send you a notice to let you know they've arrived. Or, you can check your own record online to check the status of a book you've requested. If you need help, ask a member of the staff to show you how.

Finding journal articles:
General and business magazines contain a great deal of business information in the form of articles. You need to start with a database to search magazines efficiently. Business Source Premier and Academic Search Premier are two good places to begin. You can access them by clicking "My Express Links" on the OhioLINK home page (www.ohiolink.edu), or "Exploring OhioLINK Databases by Subject", just a little bit further down the page. If you follow the subject link to business, you will also find websites selected by the Librarian's Index to the Internet.

Business Source Premier and Academic Search Premier both offer you many articles in full text. You can also see whether or not Clark State owns the periodical by clicking "OLINKS Find a Copy.

For newspaper or industry-related information, Business and Industry and LexisNexis Academic are good places to start. You will find these on "My Express Links" or "Exploring OhioLINK databases by Title."

Other useful handouts can be accessed from the library's How Do I...? page. From there, choose PathFinders. One of the PathFinders specifically tells you how to find information about companies. You can pick up a paper copy or read it online.

In order to use the Library's home page and the information contained on it, you need to use a computer which has Internet Explorer 5.5+ or Netscape 6+ (using lower version browsers will cause pages to display differently from OhioLINK).

On the library's computers, when you click either the Netscape icon or the Explorer icon, the Clark State Library is the default home page. You can surf from there and connect to other sources. OPLIN, the Ohio Public Library Information Network has a link on its home page called Discover Ohio. Here you can get an extensive list of Ohio companies by clicking on Business Information.
